SOME PEOPLE COLLECT ART . . . OTHERS RACE IT!

Vintage racing is a sport women relate to. The passion, power and excitement of Vintage Racing is reflected not only in the faces of the privileged owners who race them, but also the spectators who cheer these nostalgic machines to the finish. There is something pure about watching restored Porsches, Ferraris, Bugattis and other fabulous classics spanning five decades compete head-to-head as they did in their heyday. And women love it!

Vintage racing is a casual, spectator friendly gathering of proud owners eager to share stories of their pride & joy’s history and triumphs. If you have ever owned, or wished you owned a vintage race performance car, Vintage Racing is for you.
For women wishing to compete in racing, Vintage Racing has special appeal. Ease of entry, elegant machines, and historic intrigue combined with the associated social events and alluring destinations such as the HSR Sebring Endurance Challenge, the Monterey Historics in Laguna Seca, the Wine Country Classic in Sonoma, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, all emote the legends and legacies of Vintage Racing and appeal to feminine sensibilities.

In the UK and Europe, the Goodwood Revival is THE Vintage Racing event. Other not to be missed destinations include the Monaco Historics Grand Prix, Italy’s Mille Miglia and Germany’s famous 1920s Nurburgring, "The Ring".
Speed with safety, style and amenities, supportive family-friendly crews and spectators also make this sport particularly appealing to women eager to test their skills behind the wheel. In what other sport will your fellow competitors stay up all night, lend you their equipment, parts and expertise, all to help fix your car so that you can compete against them the following day?

It's easy to get involved, and it's a friendly, low-key family endeavor. The Association of Adventure Sports rates Vintage racing as the lowest cost "adventure sport. Vintage Racing also serves to mentor sons and daughters and creates unique experiences for employees and clients.
North America boasts more than 170 racing events and thousands of other vintage events sanctioned by independent clubs, including VRl, SVRA, HSRA, VARAC and others. Most belong to "The Vintage Motorsport Council," a schedule coordinating and rules advisory group. Outside the U.S., the international clubs operate under the FIA which sets rigid rules and requirements.

Events range in size, some mega-events attracting as many as 600 entrants, while the smaller club events attract around 50. Not all Vintage events involve racing. The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the world’s premiere Concours event, staged on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Course each August. There are also many associated racing events which welcome the vintage race car: hillclimbs, autocrosses, rallies, rally tours, concours, car shows, car meets and marquee and special interest club meets.

Most people deciding to enter vintage competition begin with a car such as an Austin Healey Sprite, an MG or a Triumph which, with a bit of preparation, can go racing.  Others seek a car with race history for both its collector value as well as its suitability for vintage competition.  All are committed to preserving the legends and legacies of a special moment in time.
